Islamic Teachings on Contemporary Issues for Young Muslims
was designed for the National Centre of Excellence for Islamic Studies, The University of Melbourne. The cover image features the Grand Mosque of King Hassan II, in Casablanca, Morocco.
The educational resource was designed to be distributed as a PDF file, and as a perfect bound, low-volume, digital print, soft-cover book.
The student book includes a wealth of images—artwork, photos and information graphics. The images break up the content and support the student activities and ideas presented in the publication.
NThe introduction features a photograph of Syrian refugee children from the Atmeh Refugee Camp inside Syria.
There is a chapter opener for the six themes covered in the student book. Each chapter starts on a recto (right page) and includes the theme colour, title, a photograph and an introduction.
In coordination with the National Centre of Excellence for Islamic Studies, Nikki M Group provided image research services to select and acquire cultural images for the publication.
The educational publication uses a series of colours to identify each theme (chapters). There are six themes covered in the book.
The student book is typeset in a combination of serif and san-serif fonts (Gotham and Palatino). Latin characters with diacritics (dots and marks on special characters) were used for Arabic consonants.
