Science Essentials was developed by Macmillan Education for the Australian Curriculum. The series includes student books for Years 7–10.
Chapters are broken into several units that introduce and guide students through each topic. Design elements include:

- checklists and exercises
- equations and formulas
- images and cartoons
- information graphics.
Typesetting
