Nelson Senior Maths was developed by Cengage Learning for the Australian Curriculum. The series included six student books for Years 11–12.
Cengage Learning commissioned Nikki M Group to design Nelson Senior Maths because of our proven track record with mathematical text design.
Preference was for an uncluttered, crisp, clean and modern design to appeal to a more maturestudent and respect their journey towards adult learning.
Nikki M Group awarded for Best Educational Primary/Secondary Book at the 62nd Australian Book Design Awards 2014. The judges wrote, ‘Nelson Senior Maths shows a truly excellent layout in handling a multitude of typographical and design element variations, whilst still maintaining a visual coherency’.

Your design partner for mathematics.
Significant consideration was given to the font used for the body text. A serif font, Minion Pro, was chosen for its elegance and aesthetic qualities. Its font family is extensive and gives a broad choice for glyphs, weights and emphasis.
Line spacing was designed to allow for superscripts, subscripts and small fractions to clear adjacent lines of text.
Keeping with the clean and uncluttered feel of the series, sans-serif fonts were chosen for headings.
